Atanas Dalchev was born on June 12th, 1904 in Salonika, Greece, but finished
hight school in Sofia and read philosophy at Sofia University. He spent
many years in Italy and France before the War, and has done many translations
from French and Italian as well as Russian and Spanish. He is a great traveller,
preserving as Svintilla has written "fragments of unfogettable worlds"
in his poetry and prose.
